A NOTE ABOUT THE TYPICON

“This present typicon is meant as a practical guide for the personal use of priests and cantors in the Ruthenian Metropolitan Province in the United States. It is not an official order of services and is to be considered superceded by any official directives of the bishops.

We see from the history of the development of the typicon, that while many traditions are constant and of greater value, many of the particular rules and details have changed to meet circumstances. In this typicon the full order of services is given for the Divine Liturgy and the daily cycle of offices, much of which is impractical in an ordinary parish situation. It is better, however, to make as much as possible available to the individual so that each individual parish or monastery may be adequately served. It is also hoped that this typicon will be of value for the private prayer of those who use it.”
