* The Prostopinije uses the designation “Podoben” to indicate that this is a prototype melody (Greek: automelon). The term “Samopodoben” is, perhaps, a more descriptive designation for the prototype melody; podoben (Greek: prosomoion) then indicates what is sung according to the prototype, samopodoben tone.
