  • Google Calendar ICS

We are pleased to announce that the Patronage Food Festival will again be returning on Saturday, November 18 from 10am to 2pm. We will be offering all of our usual ethnic foods, as well as religious articles and some new items too. We look forward to seeing everyone celebrate our Slavic heritage and share some fellowship as we enter this joyous holiday season!

As with our past festivals, you may pre-order items following the below links. Deadlines for orders will be the same whether orders are paced online or by mail, so please order early! Food will also be available for eat-in or carry-out the day of the festival as always. Please plan to come and spend some time visiting with other Byzantines from the area. We hope to have the church open, that day, for tours and to have people available to answer questions about our parish. All sales remain by check or cash only and we continue to ask that you pay for frozen pirohi and kielbasa separately from our kitchen orders when coming to the festival in person. As always, we thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Baltimore county has passed a new ordnance which requires paper or reusable bags for carry-out orders. We plan to have reusable bags with our new logo available for sale at the festival; however, if you wish to bring your own BAG we will fill that with our contains. We will also have paper bags available as well.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, November 18th! If you have any questions, please contact Mary at mdemya1@verizon.net. Thank you for your patronage of our festival!

"Come and See" Weekend of Discovery

WEEKEND OF DISCOVERY

WHO

Invited to the “Come and See” Weekend of Discovery Retreat are men, ages 18 to 35, single or married, who may be considering a vocation to the priesthood in the Byzantine Catholic Church. The retreat is conducted in a “no pressure, no hard-sell” environment. The atmosphere is prayerful, positive, and fraternal. We are requiring that all registrants this year be fully COVID vaccinated.

WHY

Every young man eventually has to make some hard decisions – college, career, marriage, family, religious life. How do I know what’s right? Does God care what I decide?

Maybe people have suggested that you check out the Seminary. Perhaps they see in you a person who loves God, loves people,

and has the potential to be a priest.

Maybe you’ve caught yourself thinking about the priesthood at church, in your personal prayers, or wherever.

Maybe you’ve thought to yourself: Will I have to give up everything – my family, my friends, the things I enjoy? Must I be super holy, super smart, or somehow “different?” Anyway, how would I know if God is calling me?

“Come and See” will help you answer these questions as you witness a seminarian’s life of work, study, prayer, and joy!

WHAT

“Come and See” is a retreat weekend hosted by the Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The retreat

includes sharing liturgical services and meals with the Seminary community, opportunities for confession, an introduction to the Seminary formation program, a tour of the Seminary, gatherings with the seminarians, witness talks about seminary life, discernment, and priesthood, a seminar, and a panel discussion.

WHEN

Friday evening (5:00 PM), November 5, 2021 through Sunday afternoon (4:00 PM), November 7, 2021. Those able to arrive on

Friday morning (by 10 AM, no earlier than 8 AM) or Friday afternoon (by 1:30 PM) will be welcome to sit in on Seminary

courses.

87TH ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP

87TH ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP

The Sisters of St. Basil the Great are pleased to announce that on Sunday, September 5, 2021, the 87th Annual Pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help will be held at Mount St. Macrina, Uniontown, PA. With the theme, “Mother of Perpetual Help, Our Gentle Protectress,” the Pilgrimage will be an in-person event and will also be streamed live. Weather permitting, liturgical services will be broadcast at www.sistersofstbasil.org.

Out of an abundance of caution, and in consultation with local county CDC/health department officials, this year’s Pilgrimage will have the following guidelines and limitations:

 ·       All liturgical services will take place at the Shrine Altar. Due to the inability to accommodate large numbers indoors, the potential for postponement or cancellation of a liturgical service exists with the presence of severe weather conditions.

·       Boxed lunches/snacks will be available for purchase during this year’s Pilgrimage. Pilgrims wishing to enjoy a warm meal are encouraged to support the local restaurants on Route 40 directly across from the Mount.

·       Please see the list of local motels and hotels on our website if you wish overnight accommodations. There will be no overnight accommodations on the grounds of Mt. St. Macrina this year, which includes campers. A limited number of self-contained RVs are permitted by appointment only (contact Sr. Carol at 724-438-7149).

·       Pilgrims will be asked to wear masks when entering indoor shrines, as well as buildings such as the Religious Gift Shop, House of Prayer, restroom facilities, etc.

·       Visitors to the Monastery (Motherhouse) will be limited this year to Sisters’ family. There will be no shuttle service on the property.

·       The Sisters are very happy to welcome our beloved Pilgrims back to the grounds of Mt. St. Macrina this year. We encourage you to make the best, most prudent decision for yourself and your family members regarding traveling to Pilgrimage this year. For Pilgrims unable to attend in person, please participate via the livestream: www.sistersofstbasil.org
